I’m Kate, and I like to cook.
I’ve always been fascinated by how food is prepared, and I spend a lot of time learning the science of cooking. When I find an interesting recipe, I learn everything about the ingredients and how they interact with each other. For me, cooking is an adventure, and I’d love for you to join me!
A little more about me
I have no formal culinary training, but I’ve been cooking and baking since I was a little girl. I made my first batch of cookies at age 8, and I still use that recipe to this day! I learned how to cook by watching my parents and aunts, who showed me the value of a home-cooked meal. I’ve also been heavily influenced by Ina Garten and Julia Child. Working through a Julia Child recipe is always challenging, but it is a great way to learn proper cooking techniques.
I have dozens of cookbooks and recipes, by many different people, but here is a list of the books I find the most useful:
- Mastering the Art of French Cooking, by Julia Child, Louisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck
- The Art of French Pastry, by Jacquy Pfeiffer and Martha Rose Shulman
- The Barefoot Contessa, by Ina Garten
- Damn Delicious: 100 Super Easy Super Fast Recipes, by Chungah Rhee
- Cravings, by Chrissy Teigen
I studied biology at Arizona State University, and I am now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in informatics and information technology. I am also a certified photographer with 2+ years experience. This blog is a fun hobby where I get to share my favorite recipes with you while improving my web developer and photography skills.
